Investigation Details

Bullet casings found at the scene of Thompson's shooting bore the words 'delay', 'depose', and 'deny', likely referencing the ways health insurance companies refuse to cover customers' medical claims. Authorities also claim Mangione was carrying a manifesto criticizing health care companies for prioritizing profits over care.

Mangione's online footprint includes accounts on Pinterest, Skype, Instagram, and Facebook. A GoodReads account linked to Mangione features several books related to back pain and an anti-technology manifesto known as the Unabomber Manifesto.

Our hope is that today's apprehension brings some relief to Brian's family, friends, colleagues and the many others affected by this unspeakable tragedy. We thank law enforcement and will continue to work with them on this investigation. We ask that everyone respect the family's privacy as they mourn.
