Blackmagic's URSA Cine Immersive is equipped to capture 3D footage at 90 fps, with a resolution of 8160 x 7200 per eye. It features custom lenses designed for its large format image sensor and provides extremely accurate positional data. The camera also comes with 8TB of network storage, recording directly to the included Blackmagic Media Module and allowing live syncing to a DaVinci Resolve media bin for remote access by editors.
Along with the URSA Cine Immersive, Blackmagic is also updating DaVinci Resolve Studio to work with Apple's Immersive Video format. New tools will enable editors to pan, tilt, and roll footage while editing on a 2D monitor or in a Vision Pro.
Despite Apple's efforts in creating short documentaries, sports clips, and films in its Immersive Video format, it hasn't released a camera for third-party production companies to produce content. Blackmagic's camera could fill this gap, enabling the creation of more immersive content for the Vision Pro and other VR headsets, given Apple releases a Vision product that consumers are willing to invest in.
The URSA Cine Immersive might seem expensive at nearly $30,000, but it offers much more out-of-the-box value than typical Blackmagic's cameras. A standard 12K URSA Cine camera costs around $15,000, but doesn't include lenses or built-in storage, which come standard with the URSA Cine Immersive.
