Following Google's acquisition of Fitbit in early 2021, the tech giant integrated Fitbit's services with its own. This required Fitbit users to migrate their existing accounts to Google. The deadline for this migration was initially set for 2025, but it has now been extended to 2026. This move signifies Google's commitment to streamline its services and provide a unified login solution for Fitbit users.
Fitbit users who fail to migrate their accounts to Google by the new deadline will not be able to continue using the Fitbit service. Additionally, their historical data will not be retained beyond the deadline, except as required by law. Users who do not wish to migrate have the option to download or delete their data anytime on or before the new deadline.
Google has also announced that starting in 2023, activating new Fitbit hardware, accessing new health features, or creating a new Fitbit account will require a Google account. This move is positioned as a more convenient unified login solution for Fitbit users, who will also be able to manage their Fitbit health data through the Google Privacy Center.
If you want to keep using Fitbit, you must move to a Google Account by February 2, 2026.
