Google has already widely rolled out the ability for Gemini to remember user preferences. However, this latest update takes things a step further by allowing the chatbot to reference discussions from the past. This enhanced memory capability allows for more relevant responses and a more personalized interaction with the AI.
Users can review, delete, and manage their Gemini chat history at any time. This can be done by selecting the profile picture in the top right corner of the Gemini app and then selecting 'Gemini App's Activity'. This provides users with control over their interaction history with the AI.
The recall feature is currently rolling out to Google One AI Premium plan subscribers. It can be tried out in English on Gemini's web or mobile app. Google plans on expanding the feature to more languages and to Google Workspace Business and Enterprise customers in the coming weeks.
ChatGPT, another AI, has a similar ability to recall details and preferences from past conversations. This indicates a trend in AI development towards creating more personalized and contextual interactions.
With the update, you'll no longer have to recap previous chats or search for a thread to pick up a conversation, as Gemini will already have the context it needs.
