While the ability to see shared locations was already available in Google Maps, the inclusion of this feature in the Find My Device app makes it easier for users to locate both things and people in one place. This update also introduces a 'People' tab in the Android app, where users can view the locations of any contacts that are sharing their location with them.
The updated interface now mirrors Apple's Find My app, featuring a split-screen UI with a map on top and devices or people at the bottom, depending on whether the user is viewing items or people. This design makes it easier for users to switch between locating devices and people.
In addition to showing the locations of contacts, the update also provides users with more control over their location sharing. Users can switch to a tab that shows who they are sharing their location with and gives them options such as changing the duration they share their location with someone.
Now, the Android Find My Device app does double duty, making it easier to find both things and people in one place.
