The recall affects approximately 220,000 scooters sold since January 2020. These scooters were sold through various outlets, including Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, Target, Sams Club, and Amazon. The Ninebot Max G30P can be recognized by its gray and yellow color scheme, while the Max G30LP model is black with yellow accents.
In response to the reported failures and injuries, Segway has urged consumers to immediately stop using the recalled scooters. However, the company is not offering replacements. Instead, Segway is providing owners with a free maintenance kit. This kit includes instructions and tools for tightening the folding mechanism on either model, and maintaining it to ensure the folding mechanism remains locked while the scooters are being ridden.
Segway, a leading provider of electric scooters, has issued a recall for two of its models, the Ninebot Max G30P and Max G30LP, due to a faulty folding mechanism that has resulted in 68 reported failures and 20 injuries.
